The Food Hygiene Rating Scheme (FHRS) used in England and Wales takes into consideration three important aspects of each food-related business and its operations:
Hygiene, Structural and Management.
Hygiene -How hygienically the food is handled - including how it is prepared, cooked, re-heated, cooled and stored.
Structural -The condition of the structure of the buildings - the cleanliness, layout, lighting, ventilation and other facilities.
Management -Confidence in Management - how the business manages and records what it does to make sure food is safe.
For each of the three elements scored, the range is from 0 for the best standards, through to a maximum (poorest) score of 25 for each of hygiene and structural compliance, and a maximum of 30 for confidence in management. These scores are then combined to give a final FHRS score which is used to calculate the rating. 5 being the top rating and 0 being the bottom rating.
Each local authority plans a programme of inspections every year, and we are very proud that our New Beginnings Day Nurseries all hold and continue to maintain their 5 rating, with our Romford setting being inspected last week and achieving their 5 rating again well done Romford team!!
