A Gem Amongst the Trees

Located within the grounds of Alderton Infant and Junior School, the nursery is set within a purpose-built building, designed with large rooms and high ceilings that bring in an abundance of light. There is a variety of indoor and outdoor spaces for children to take their first steps into education through exploration and discovery.

The nursery has four light, open-plan rooms carefully designed for the children to become independent learners, supported with plenty of natural resources and furniture to encourage children to manage their own learning and development.

We have optimised our outdoor area to foster an inviting and stimulating learning environment. Children can engage with water, a sandpit, plants, and a mud kitchen, while we supply a variety of resources that support all aspects of learning through our holistic approach. Our spacious gardens are utilised daily, where children enjoy exploring our growing area, construction site, and campsite. Regardless of the weather we venture outside, benefiting from ample shelter and space. This allows children to learn about seasonal changes and their surrounding environment.

We welcome the opportunity to show you our "gem amongst the trees"

Parent Communication

New Beginnings Nurseries are passionate about building strong partnerships between nursery and home. We want parents to enjoy being part of their child’s nursery journey just as much as the children do.

We communicate with families through the Famly app, which allows us to share observations, updates, messages and important information in a secure and accessible way. Through the app, parents can view their child’s learning experiences, photographs, and developmental progress.

Families are also encouraged to share updates from home so we can celebrate children’s achievements and experiences together.

For our younger children, daily care information — including food or bottle intake, toileting, and sleep routines — is shared via the app to ensure parents remain fully informed about their child’s day.

Safety & Security

It is very important for all our families to know that their child is safe while at New Beginnings. We have several robust policies and procedures in place, all are available to view on our nursery website. These are followed to meet the exacting standards of Ofsted, building and fire regulations, food safety standards, and staff DBS background checks and references.

Our staff are given training during their induction and throughout their time with us at New Beginnings. If staff also wish to further their training in a particular area we can support them with this. We are also part of the Millie’s Mark Accreditation and ensure 100% of our staff are first aid trained.

All of the food we provide our children is prepared on site by our nursery chefs. Breakfast, morning snack, lunch and tea are provided and menus are rotaed every 3 weeks.

We have been awarded the soil assiocaition ealry years soil for life food accreditation for a menus and have taken part in the Healthy Early Years London accreditation and have been awarded bronze, silver and gold.

We pride ourselfs on ensuring children eat a well balanced, healthy and nutritious meals while at New Beginnings.

Key person approach

Every child has an allocated key person. The key person's role is to build relationships with your child and observe them to identify how they play, their next aspects of development, what they are interested in to support their learning and development, and whether there is any extra support needed for them.

Although all children are assigned a key person, all staff within the room take care of them and build strong relationships with them.

Watch us grow

Our 'Watch Us Grow' curriculum and its delivery ensures that children make good progress. Their individual identity is valued and our children are kind and caring, while also aspiring to be the best that they can be.

A room for every stage of your child’s development

  • Seahorse Classroom 0-18 months

This room is full of a wide variety of educational toys, books, puzzles, construction resources and sensory materials to stimulate the children’s senses and challenge their minds. For new children starting with us, we focus on building consistency and stability between home and nursery to ensure a smooth transition for the whole family, and a solid foundation for a wonderful relationship to begin between our family and yours.

Every child is allocated a key person who supports them between drop off to pick up. Your child’s key person will be responsible for their individual weekly planning, next steps, as well as helping parents to continue building on what the children have learnt at home.

  • Jellyfish Classroom 18 months - 2 years

In the Jellyfish room, we have a particular focus on allowing the children to lead their learning using construction, role play, small world play, musical instruments and natural resources. We also introduce numbers, colours and letters to the children in a fun and engaging way. Your child’s key person will be responsible for carrying out carefully planned activities to help them further their learning, as well as build on their social and emotional development.

Of primary importance is a strong partnership with parents to ensure a smooth transition, either as a new starter or in moving up from the Seahorse room. We know that parents are a child’s first educator so we strive to provide you with ideas for home, alongside advice and guidance around toilet training and behaviour management.
