Joining New Beginnings

At New Beginnings, we believe that high-quality early years education gives children the best possible start and helps to build strong foundations for their future. We strive to make our nurseries welcoming, inspiring and nurturing places where children can learn, grow, explore and, most importantly, have fun. We want every child’s nursery experience to be positive, meaningful and filled with opportunities to discover new interests and develop their confidence.

We recognise that every child is unique, with their own individual personality, interests, strengths and needs. Our dedicated team takes the time to understand each child and tailor their care and learning to support their individual development. Above all, we celebrate what makes every child special, creating an inclusive environment where children feel valued, respected, confident and ready to thrive.

Are you passionate about working with children and interested in becoming part of the New Beginnings team? We are always keen to hear from enthusiastic, caring individuals who share our commitment to providing outstanding early years care and education.

Safeguarding is everyones responsibiity

We recognise that all staff, including volunteers, have a full and active part to play in protecting our children from harm. A key factor in this is ensuring we have a safe recruitment and selection process.

The main components include:

  • at every stage of the recruitment process the companies commitment to child protection procedures is stated;
  • the job description refers to the companies responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children;
  • the person specification includes specific reference to suitability to work with children obtaining and scrutinising comprehensive information from applicants, and taking up and satisfactorily resolving any discrepancies or anomalies.
  • we obtain two independent professional and character references that answer specific questions to help assess an applicant’s suitability to work with children and follow up on any concerns;
  • we have a face to face interview where possible and tasks that explore the candidate’s suitability to work with children as well as his/her suitability for the position;
  • we verify the successful applicant’s identity
  • we check that she/he has the academic or vocational qualifications stated on the application form
  • we check that his/her previous employment history and experience includes any periods of non-employment;
  • we verify that she/he has the health and physical capacity for the job;
  • we carry out the mandatory check of the Children’s Barred List (formerly List 99) and a Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS clearance).

4 steps of Safeguarding

Safeguarding commitment

At New Beginnings Nurseries we are firmly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people. We expect all staff, volunteers, students, and other adults working in our provision to share this commitment and to promote a culture where children’s safety and well-being come first.

We recognise that the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) statutory framework sets clear expectations for all early years providers to ensure children are kept safe, that staff are suitable and appropriately trained, and that recruitment and ongoing personnel practice reflects this.

Safer recruitment

We ensure that our recruitment, selection and employment practices are in line with best practice and the strengthened requirements of the EYFS. Our procedures are designed to prevent unsuitable people from working with children and to support our staff in providing safe, high quality care and education.

Safeguarding culture

We expect all colleagues to embed safeguarding in their everyday practice. We support this by:

  • Providing regular safeguarding training in line with statutory EYFS expectations, including induction training and ongoing refresher training.
  • Ensuring safeguarding policies include clear procedures for raising concerns, including whistleblowing channels, and how staff are supported to put training into practice.
  • Promoting an open culture where concerns can be reported promptly and appropriately.

Safeguarding is non negotiable
