Located within the grounds of Alderton Infant and Junior School, our nursery is set within a purpose-built building, with spacious rooms and high ceilings that fill the setting with natural light.With a wonderful variety of indoor and outdoor spaces, children can take their first steps into education through exploration, discovery and play.
The nursery has four bright, open-plan rooms, thoughtfully designed to encourage children to become confident and independent learners. Natural resources and carefully selected furniture help children make choices, manage their own learning and develop their growing independence, with our practitioners there to support and encourage them along the way.
Our outdoor area has been carefully developed to provide an inviting and stimulating environment where children can learn through hands-on experiences. They can explore water, sand, plants and our mud kitchen, alongside a wide range of resources that support all areas of their learning and development.
Our spacious gardens are used every day and offer children exciting opportunities to explore our growing area, construction site and campsite. We enjoy being outdoors whatever the weather, with plenty of sheltered areas allowing children to continue their adventures throughout the year.
Being outside gives children the opportunity to observe seasonal changes, develop an understanding of the natural world and explore their surroundings at their own pace.

MEET THE MANAGER
Paula Gill
Paula has been part of the New Beginnings family since 2013. With a wealth of knowledge and experience across the early years sector, Paula brings a deep understanding of high-quality childcare, operational excellence and team development.
Her long-standing commitment to New Beginnings provides consistency, strong leadership and ongoing support across our nurseries. Paula works closely with our teams to help each setting thrive, supporting our practitioners and leaders to maintain high standards and deliver the very best outcomes for children and families.
Anastasija Liksenaj
Ana first joined New Beginnings in 2016, beginning her early years career with us through an apprenticeship.
Ana is passionate about supporting children and their families and is committed to creating a warm, nurturing and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and has the opportunity to thrive.
Her journey is something we are particularly proud of. From apprentice to Nursery Manager, Ana's story reflects our belief in investing in our people, recognising their potential and supporting them to grow.
At New Beginnings, we don't just watch children grow — we help our people grow too.

Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) – Safeguarding Requirements
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) sets the statutory safeguarding and welfare requirements that all early years providers must follow.
These requirements ensure providers:
- Protect children from harm and promote their welfare.
- Recruit and maintain suitable staff through safer recruitment and ongoing suitability checks.
- Appoint a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to oversee safeguarding practice.
- Provide regular safeguarding training and supervision for staff.
- Follow robust procedures for recognising, recording and responding to concerns.
- Promote safe environments through effective risk management, safer sleep practices, safe mealtimes and good health and hygiene.
- Work in partnership with families and safeguarding agencies to support children's safety and wellbeing.
- Maintain accurate records and share information appropriately where this helps protect children.
At New Beginnings, these statutory requirements are embedded throughout our policies, procedures and everyday practice, helping us provide the safest possible environment for every child. Please read the nurseries safeguarding procedure.

Our Nursery Rooms
Seahorse Classroom 0-18 months
Welcome BookletThis room is full of a wide variety of educational toys, books, puzzles, construction resources and sensory materials to stimulate the children’s senses and challenge their minds. For new children starting with us, we focus on building consistency and stability between home and nursery to ensure a smooth transition for the whole family, and a solid foundation for a wonderful relationship to begin between our family and yours.
Every child is allocated a key person who supports them between drop off to pick up. Your child’s key person will be responsible for their individual weekly planning, next steps, as well as helping parents to continue building on what the children have learnt at home.
Jellyfish Classroom 18 months - 2 years
Welcome BookletIn the Jellyfish room, we have a particular focus on allowing the children to lead their learning using construction, role play, small world play, musical instruments and natural resources. We also introduce numbers, colours and letters to the children in a fun and engaging way. Your child’s key person will be responsible for carrying out carefully planned activities to help them further their learning, as well as build on their social and emotional development.
Of primary importance is a strong partnership with parents to ensure a smooth transition, either as a new starter or in moving up from the Seahorse room. We know that parents are a child’s first educator so we strive to provide you with ideas for home, alongside advice and guidance around toilet training and behaviour management.
Turtle Classroom 2-3 years
Welcome BookletWe take advantage of the children’s ever-growing knowledge to prepare them for their next adventure in school. We fulfil this by instilling confidence, and independence and encouraging curiosity and exploration through their play. We work alongside parents to get their children school-ready by suggesting activities to help with letter and number recognition, phonics and early reading and writing. We are also able to provide advice on choosing the right school for your child.

Starfish Sensory Room
What's a sensory room? The starfish sensory room is a special room designed to develop a person's sense, usually through special lighting, music, and objects. It can also be used as a therapy for children with limited communication skills.
