Safer sleep
Keeping children safe when they sleep
Safe sleep guidelines for infants require placing babies on their back to sleep, in a clear and separate space, while maintaining a smoke-free and comfortable room temperature. Following recommendations from health authorities like the The Lullaby Trust and the NHS helps lower the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).

How we support safer sleep at nursery
At New Beginnings Day Nurseries, every sleep matters. We are committed to providing a safe sleep environment where every child can rest comfortably whilst receiving the highest standards of care and supervision.
Our safer sleep practices are based on the latest evidence and reflect the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Statutory Framework and guidance from The Lullaby Trust. Every member of our team receives safer sleep training and understands their responsibility to protect children whilst they sleep.
We recognise that every child is unique. We work closely with families to understand each child's individual sleep routines whilst ensuring these are implemented safely within current guidance. Staff complete regular sleep checks, maintain continuous supervision and accurately record observations throughout each child's sleep period.
We believe safer sleep is everyone's responsibility. By working together with parents and carers, following national guidance and continually developing our practice, we aim to ensure that every child has the safest possible environment to rest, sleep and thrive.
If you would like further information about our safer sleep procedures or current national guidance, please speak to a member of our management team or explore the trusted resources available on this page.
